Genesis 12
Luke 5:1-11
Genesis 12:1
Then God said the Abram, "Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father's family, and go to the land I will show you."
Observation
The word "native" means, from which we were born. It carries with it a familiarity and comfortability that requires little faith to survive. When God called Abram from his "native" home, he called him from comfort to something far greater, however the path to get there was not an easy one.
Abram, for most of his life, had not sight of the end, however his trust in God kept him walking in the right direction. He truly brings meaning to the verse in Hebrews, "We walk by faith and not by sight."
Application
I must constantly find direction and hope in Abram's story. Too often I get discouraged because I can't see the end, the results and the fulfillment to the calling which God has set me apart.
Abram teaches me that faith is not about seeing the end, but about faithfulness in the journey. It's the journey in which growth takes place, where the gospel truly takes route and it's the faithfulness in it, that eventually leads us to the results.
Prayer
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). Jesus, may that not only be my prayer but also the path that I live out daily.

Observation
The Lord uses many stories in the Bible to teach us about blind faith. In living on the earth, there are times when we must trust in His ways, believe in His word, and follow His path without always knowing what lies ahead. This obedience to the Lord not only shows Him our love for Him, but also shows others that we are willing to believe in the intangible, trust in the unseen, and believe in the unknown all because the Lord has declared it so.
Application
I must work to remember that I am a walking billboard for the Lord. My willingness to trust in Him and continue His work here on earth, without the “hardcore” proof that so any nonbelievers ask for, will be a beacon for some. It will show that He does live on and that His word is truth.
Prayer
Lord help me to remember that I am a living, breathing example of Your word. Help me to live out Your ways for all to see. Use me as an example whenever You need me to be one. Amen.
Scripture: Genesis 12: 2-4
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
Observation: That Abram left his lands and his fathers people after 75 years. He had complete faith in the Lord. He didn't know if it would be hard or easy. He just knew he had to obey the Lord. Blind faith in the Lord. Even when Pharaoh was going to take Sarah as his wife. The Lord sent terrible plagues to Pharaohs home saving Sarah. He left Egypt a rich man still following the path the Lord had laid out for him with complete faith and devotion.
Application: For me this is what I needed to hear. I will follow the lord daily not knowing what the end result will be. Knowing he is all powerful and he has direction over my life. He will always guide me and never forsake me. I need to remember to let him have control. Have blind faith in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, I pray that each morning I can give over my will and do yours. Have faith that no matter what you will always be standing beside me guiding me. Thank you for all my blessings.
Amen
