Today's Reading...
Genesis 37
Psalm 7:9-10
Luke 15:1-7
Genesis 37:8
His brothers responded, "So you think you will be our king, do you? Do you actually think you will rule over us?" And they hated him all the more because of his dreams and the way he talked about them.
Observation
Hatred and bitterness has a way of rotting us to the core. This is why Jesus equated hatred to murder and one can certainly see Jesus meaning through this story.
The seed of hatred that Joseph's brothers had for him started small. They were jealous of petty and insignificant things. Soon, however, their hatred turned them into killers. I was struck by how scripture says, they didn't want to be guilty of murder, yet they murdered their fathers dreams, his joy and ultimately the family unity because of their hatred. The irony is that Joseph's refusal to be fueled by the same is what brought restoration to the family.
Application
I've instructed my children from the time they were small that they can't control what people say, do or think of them, but they get to choose every day how they will respond. When we choose to pick up an offense it will turn us into something we were never meant to be. It's far better to pray through it; "blessing our enemies and praying for those who persecute us."
Prayer
Heavenly Father, help me to guard against picking up an offense. May my heart always walk in obedience and in the strength of your love. In Jesus name!

Scripture: Luke 15:7
I say unto you; that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persone who need no repentance.
Observation: Jesus spoke to the people (sinners) that day in a parable. Saying he is always searching for that one heart that isn't saved and doesn't seek his forgiveness.
Application: For me to always seeks people to bring to the lord. Not to ever think that good works gets us into the kingdom of heaven. To see out the drug addicts, cheaters, liars, thiefs and tell them about Jesus dying for our sins on the cross so that we can have eternal life in heaven.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, each day to try and help someone in pain or anger. To witness to them about your love. To show them grace and understanding just like you would. Thank you for all my blessings...
Amen
