Today's Reading...
Luke 19
Luke 19:17
"Well Done!" The king exclaimed. "You are a good servant. You have been faithful with the little I entrusted you, so you will be governor over ten cities as your reward."
Observation
It's tempting to look at the final result of the good servant as motivation to serve, however, it's not the reward the drove him because he didn't know it was coming until the master returned. One must question, then, what was it that motivated the good servant? It had to be a deep love and trust of his master.
Application
This story has been on my mind for weeks, along with the question of motivation. I can't help but ask, what is my motivation to work for the kingdom and is it really driving me to risk and step forward in faith?
What was true for the good servant must also be true for me. My motivation and drive must be locked on Jesus, his work and love that was poured out when I least deserved it. To be honest, I don't think I ponder this enough and I don't think I allow his love to motivate and drive me like it should.
Prayer
Lord, may your grace and love motivate my heart in a deeper way. When I'm feeling tired, beat down and lazy, motivate my heart to seek you in a deeper way. May your love, grace and mercy always stretch me beyond my comfort zone and my desire for the status quo. Let me be motivated not by future rewards but by a future that is securely found in you and you alone!

Scripture: Luke 19:10
For the Son of Man is come to seek and save that which was lost.
Observation: That Zacchaeus being small in stature would go to any lengths to see and speak to the Lord. He climbed the sycomore tree knowing the Lord would pass by. In return Jesus told him to come down from the tree and taketh him to his house. The town's people were confused because they thought Zacchaeua a sinner. The Lord telling Zacchaeus that he is the son of man sent to save those who are lost.
Application: For me it's to try harder to search Jesus out and spend time with him daily. Not to let anything stand in my way when it comes to spending time with my Savior. Also not to judge people. TO show them grace as god has shown me.
Prayer. Dear Lord help me to take time daily to focus on you by your word. To not let my everyday life get in between you and I. I want to be able to show people grace and set an example. Thank you for all my blessings. Amen
