20/20/20 Challenge Day #20

Today's Reading
Genesis 50
Psalm 8
Luke 20:9-19

Psalm 8:3-4
When I look at the night sky and see the work of your fingers - the moon and the stars you set in place - what are mere mortals that you should think of them, human beings that you should care about them?

Observation

David's view of God was infinitely higher than his view of himself.  When he looked around and pondered all of nature he shrunk in size.  He seems to have a hard time fathoming how a God so big could love a person so small.

Application

We live in a culture that has lost it's high view of God.  We no longer look to God's creation as a means to seeing God's greatness in comparison to our feebleness.  Through science, we've reduced him down to nothing, while elevating ourselves to greatness.

God dwells among those whose view of him has not been diminished, who still look to him and see him as much higher than us.  It's much easier to lover our view of God than to raise our faith in him, but to those who refuse to bow, blessings beyond our wildest dreams await.

Prayer

May my cry be the same as the Psalmist, "Oh Lord, Oh Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth."  Father, may my view of you never be diminished in the arrogance of my finiteness.  May I decrease daily, as my view of your increases every moment.
