20/20/20 Challenge Day #25

Today's Reading
Exodus 12
Exodus 13:17-22

Exodus 12:13
"But the blood on your doorpost will serve as a sign, marking the houses where you are staying. When I see the blood, I will pass over you. This plague of death will not touch you when I strike the land of Egypt."

Observation

The Israelites salvation came because of the blood on their doorpost. It's interesting to note that God said, "When I see the blood I will pass over you," not, "when I see how good you are," or "when I see all that you've done." God's eyes were always on the blood of the sacrifice and his wrath passed over them because of this.

Application

The older I get the more aware of two things I become; the utter depravity of my sin, and the amazing power of God's grace through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Because of his grace, when he looks at me he sees not my sin, because his eyes see the blood of Jesus applied to my life; the righteousness, perfection and beauty of his son. This never gets old to me, in fact it becomes more real every day and moves me to be more like him.

Prayer

Heavenly father, I thank you that when you look at my life you see the perfection and beauty of your son, Jesus Christ and not the ugliness of my sin. May this always serve to change my life and help me to be found in Jesus daily, changing my life for your glory.
